Not A Good Day

Last night before going to bed we were a little worried about today's weather. Flagstaff was expecting winds gusting to over 50 MPH until late in the evening. Thursday there was really cold weather coming in (below freezing), and snow. When we got up the winds were so bad and Thursday's weather report was deteriorating so we decided to stay put for the day. Steve got everything ready to leave on Thursday that was possible so that he didn't have to spend anymore time outside disconnecting than absolutely necessary. I made calls to set up reservations for the rest of our trip. It was a bummer of a day. We weren't able to go to the Grand Canyon again and our trip is winding down. We will be home on October 31st. Don't get me wrong it will be great to get home but the thought of this absolutely wonderful, life affirming trip, that Steve and I couldn't have enjoyed more, it's depressing. I'm sure as we get closer to home we will be more excited to be going home, but right now facing the end of our trip makes me realize I DONT WANT IT TO END!!!!!
When I think of the wonderful things we have seen and done, I saw a freaking MOOSE, yes you read right, a moose, and thank God this ridiculous temper tantrum coming out of Washington didn't happen till well into the trip and it is a good thing too. I want to go up to a national park with a copy of my passport, a copy of the constitution and when I'm told I can't go in I want to stand up and tell them I OWN this national park, I am a natural born citizen, I am the people in "We the people. . .". It makes me sick the crap they are pulling. We have been to so many parks and zoos and it has been so fabulous. Being in Vegas for our 10th anniversary and having family with us, it has been PERFECT!! So I guess I have no reason to be depressed at the thought that the trip is coming to an end.
So adjusting my attitude, I can't wait to get to Albuquerque and see at least one day of the balloon festival, then making our way to San Antonio and the Alamo, good things are still happening and I can't wait to get to them. Good night everyone, and you all in Florida, watch your rear view mirrors cause you'll be seeing us soon. Oh and by the way, keep your fingers crossed that the snow is not too deep here tomorrow and that we don't run into weather/traffic issues tomorrow!
