Driving In The Desert

Our day started off really easy, we didn't do too much taking apart since we knew we were on the road again today, so it was quick and easy, down and dirty leaving this morning. We weren't on the road a half hour and it starts to rain. Now how cool is that. It isn't often that it rains in the desert and we just happen to catch it. It made for a much more enjoyable drive instead of scorching heat streaming in on us it was overcast and raining. I can just imagine all the desert plants and creatures stretching out there limbs or roots to catch as much water as possible. Everything must be doing the happy dance today.
So we have been at it a couple hours now and we are coming up on the Nevada border. The last two hours there has been pretty much nothing. A few abandoned buildings, a few abandoned homes, one abandoned attraction of some sort, but mostly desert, scrub type bushes, a few Joshua trees, lots of sand and rocks. You get the picture, barren, then BOOM somebody plunks down a town. Just inside Nevada, by mere inches mind you, there are about a half a dozen casino hotels just sitting there waiting to catch the passerby that just can't make it to Vegas. Oh how funny! For God's sake one of them even had a roller coaster. Oh boy!!
As we were driving through Arizona and into Utah the scenery we saw was like driving into a Clint Eastwood Western. It is so beautiful here. We are at a really nice campground. The lady that checked us in and I chatted for almost an hour. Poor Steve was left to set up by himself, but you know what, he's a professional camper, he can handle it. I can't wait to get to see more of this area. We are here for 12 days and I think each one will be full. Tomorrow we are going to Zion National Park. So you all have a good night. I'll get a blog out as quick as I can tomorrow so that you can see some photos. Good night all, (safe travels to Catherine and to Akio we will be thinking about you handling both kids alone).
