Day 10

To High Point We Go
May 16, 2013, 10:43 AM

We are on the move to High Point, North Carolina this morning and the only problem we have encountered is the RV is so filthy from going up a dirt road at Smith Lake Campground at Ft. Bragg and then down again. All that work to clean the RV before taking off on our big adventure wiped out with a two night stay at Ft. Bragg. All we need is a damn good rain storm and the majority of it will run off with the rain water, I hope.

There were new road configurations in the area of the base and upon leaving we thought smoke was going to pour out of the GPS or she would just explode. "Proceed to highlighted route, proceed to highlighted route, proceed to highlighted route, proceed to highlighted route" she kept telling us over and over and OVER again. It was like an old 45 record skipping. It had to go on for about a half a mile till we came to where the new road met up with the old road, by that time she was horse from yelling at us. The old GPS would have told us it was "Recalculating" and at some point it would have told Steve "move over stupid, I'll drive", but no, she held her ground till we got back to the old section of road and she could recognize where we were.

We were driving on route 210 and there were patches of beautiful wild flowers. There were pretty yellow wild flowers along almost the entire route, but in some areas there was just a riot of colorful wild flowers. I wish there was a place we could have pulled over and I could have gotten pictures. I thought about taking them right out the windshield but the dead bugs on the windshield would have just ruined it so I didn't bother. I have a photo in my minds eye that will take a long time to fade, I guess that will just have to do for now.

We were about a half mile or less from the campground and we are traveling down a very residential street, honestly I wondered if the GPS had gone crazy and we were going to reach our destination but it wasn't going to be a campground, but back to the point if the story here, a pickup truck was coming at us was flashing his lights and signaling to us. Steve stopped in the middle of the street and the guy tells us we can't get down the street cause there is a low electrical line we won't get under. He told us how to get around and back on track, what a great guy. He could have really saved us from a big problem.

We are in the Oak Hollow Campground. Oh it is a nice place in High Point, North Carolina. We were told just go. Pick out whatever site you like, the guy told me which ones had the size that we needed, we got all set up the went back to the office to sign in and pay. Cool huh!!!!!!

Well we have had a nice dinner, and then the phone rang. Brian was calling to say he took off tomorrow and they are going to come and do the zoo with us. This will be lots of fun. So stay tuned for tomorrow's blog post. I'm sure we will have great photos of the animals, the ones the zoo takes care of and the ones Brian and Kirsten take care of. ;-)
