Day 8

On The Road Again
May 14, 2013, 10:14 AM

OK I think I need to clarify something, there has obviously been a misunderstanding on someone's part and I don't want to point fingers or mention anyone by name, but here goes. . . when we planned this trip it was our intention to escape the oppressive heat of the Florida summer. YES that is absolutely right, however, and I can't stress this enough, never did I want to end up in the middle of winter. I mean come on people. It got down in the upper 40s last night. What the heck is up with that? I wanted SPRING, spring I tell you, and a mild one at that. Now something needs to be done, and I don't know who needs to do it but somebody better and PDQ.

I'm not going to belabor this point. I've said what I had to say, I trust that things will be taken care of, now moving right along. We are back in the RV and on the road traveling to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, and just to recap for those that may not be following along like they should, come on people when you miss a day you miss a lot, we started out exactly one week ago today and we stopped in Savannah, Georgia for three days, we had a wonderful time, on Friday we left Savannah and drove to Atlanta, where we have spent the last four days enjoying all that this area has to offer. We are looking forward to getting to Ft. Bragg to see my brother and his family. We haven't seen Sam and Veronica, for about five years and we have never seen little Charlotte, so this will be exciting. Heck, come to think of it, I don't think I have seen my brother since we went to his wedding almost ten years ago now. When we were in Myrtle Beach, North Carolina, Kirsten came with the two kids but Brian was deployed in Afghanistan, if I remember correctly, so this will really be a treat.

We got on the road with no issues this morning. I hate to speak things like that out loud, and I'm hopeful that writing them down doesn't have the same gremlins attached. It never fails as soon as I tell Steve, the traffic hasn't been that bad, it comes to a complete halt in front of us, or better yet, if I mention that we really haven't had any trouble with a specific something or other, damn if it doesn't break. So I think I'll keep my mouth shut and just write it, maybe gremlins can't read.

Well we just stopped for gas and I took that opportunity to make us some lunch. It is so wonderful to travel with a full kitchen at your disposal. We got a new GPS for this trip and I am really falling in love with a few of the features. First of all it's cool because I can set all the features of the RV in the GPS and it knows if there might be height restrictions along a route, or if along a the route you might have to cross a bridge that doesn't allow propane, that type of thing. It also calls out informational bulletins, when your crossing state boarders, or when the driver is speeding. It's that last factoid that has me grinning. I don't even have to nag the man anymore I have a convenient little electronic device to do that for me. Not only does she tell him where to go, but she will bitch if he's going to fast. Aren't modern conveniences wonderful honey?
