Day 70

Benefit In Complaining

Jul 15, 2013, 10:30 AM

I have been printing out our Zoos Across America Retirement Trip blog periodically and I've noticed that the page numbering is just a mess when I do. I have been creating my blog in a journaling app for the iPad because it is set up  perfectly for all the different entries, and this way I have a copy to work on even when I don't have access to the internet. So I have tried to export the blog to different apps or in different formats so that I could either eliminate the page numbers or correct them, whichever, but to no avail. So yesterday I wasted about an hour trying to fix this problem again and I got frustrated with the whole process so I sent an e-mail to the app support people. I never expected to get a reply or any helpful tips, I was just blowing off steam. Well don't you know I actually got a reply, and this is the kick in the pants, they were completely unaware of the problem and they were going to check into it. This morning I got a nice e-mail thanking me for telling them about the problem and they told me they were able to recreate the problem and a fix was being worked on and there would be an update soon. WOW!! That's what I call customer service, something that is so lacking anymore. I remember with real longing the days when the customer was always right, but then again the customer wasn't as likely to take advantage, so I guess we have brought this on ourselves. Shame on us for our wretched selfishness, we get what we deserve.

We were actually out the door early this morning. We had no issues at all. However I have come to realize that when we get home my poor husband needs to seek psychiatric help. He is CRAZY!!!!! He will have goofy, ridiculous dreams and then wake up in the morning still upset about it. Things like he might get mad at me for building a floating addition on to our house, all by myself, without consulting him on what color this floating addition should be. REALLY!!!!!! You freak, the COLOR is what you're hung up about. In the morning he will get in my face about it. He's all, "why would you do that, I might have wanted it to be chartreuse." Of course I try to take pity on the man, taking into account his advanced years but it's getting to be a bit much. This morning the problem was that I had apparently allowed him to have a hair growing out of his eye lid. Oh, but wait there's more! Not only was there a hair growing out of his eye lid, it was about a foot long, so he tell me, it had to be there for years. Then, it gets better, he tells me it has all these curly Q's on it like feathers, and it was entirely gray. Oh my God, the man needs help. I would think the rigors of the trip have been too much for him, but in all honesty, this has been going on for years. HE'S CRAZY, CRAZY I TELL YOU!!!!!!!!

One thing I have noticed about Wisconsin boy, they were really creative when it came time to name their roads. Yes sir'ree we have L, M, Q, U, K, etc. It must have taken months of planning and research to come up with names like this. One wonders, did they have to hold special votes??

We have just crossed the border into Minnesota. Wisconsin had some very pretty vistas. Lots of large farms with barns and silos. It reminded me of Lancaster, but these farms were on a much bigger scale. There was very light traffic though and it has picked up coming into Minnesota. It might just be the time of day, but it is much busier. In less than an hour we should be at the campground. We will make short order of setting up, then off to the mall!! I would have thought if anything the fact that I'm going to be let loose in the Mall of America would have given Steve nightmares, not wild hairs.

The Mall of America is huge, the parking structure alone was huge. We went in and there was a wall with the directory on it and not only that, but a phone you could use to call a help desk. There was a complete amusement park in the mall. I knew there was a roller coaster, but I thought that was it, oh how wrong I was. There were lots of rides. It was very cool. I wanted to do the log flume, but we ate first and then I was too full to do rides. Bummer!! We were however able to exchange Steve's Tervis glass. I went in and showed them the glass and told them I'd like to have it replaced, Steve says, "can we do that here or do we have to send it back to the manufacturer". I almost died, why would he give them an out, the man gets me crazy sometimes. Then, THEN, I got a handle for my other glass, I've decided I like the handles and he gives me mouth, "you already have one of those, can't you just use that one?" I was like "dude", I'm getting one, it's too hard to get off the one glass and put it on the other one, don't worry about it. The guy at the counter just about wet his pants. Anyway, we had a great time at the mall. We ate dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, oh it was good. Then we went and got Spanky a pin. We checked out a few stores and then headed home. So now I can say "I've been to the Mall of America". Cool huh!!!!!!

Well you won't believe this but we the Minnesota zoo is a half mile away from our campground. We had NO idea. So tomorrow we are off to another zoo. I'll fill you in later. Good night.
