Day 42 (Late Edition)

Saying Goodbyes
Jun 17, 2013, 8:16 PM

Kim and Alex had their 4-H meeting tonight. Doesn't that figure, the night before we leave. Oh well, it isn't like we have spent almost every day together for almost month. After the girls got back from our shopping excursion Steve and went to do the laundry. We wanted to try to bet back in time to have an early dinner, but that just wasn't in the cards. It wasn't as quiet at the laundromat this time but we got all the wash done. We got home and Catherine called, we ordered pizzas and ate dinner together on the deck, it was such a nice evening. Geo and Azure are such good eaters. They both had pizza, but being sick has taken a toll on Geo and he got so tired so Catherine said goodbyes and took the kids home. Steve and I came in to start getting a few things ready.

I told Steve it was probably best that they left while Geo was fussy, I wasn't able to get teary. Don't you know about five minutes later Catherine is calling to see if Geo could come to say a proper goodbye. Oh God how do I say goodbye to them. Geo had his bath and was all ready for bed and he was his happy little self again. They came and we played and laughed and talked and, it was so very hard to give him one last hug and kiss. They are such a sweet family and I have fallen in love with them all. I am so glad Kim has such a wonderful friend in her life. I will cherish the photo shoot and all of the time we were able to spend with them. I just wish it could have been more.

Kim called to say she was about ten minutes away and she wanted to know if we were going to be up a little longer. So we stayed up with Kim for a while and talked and talked and talked some more. Tomorrow is going to be so hard leaving. I don't even want to think about saying goodbye to Kim and Robert and Alex. Steve and I love to spend time with them and we don't get to do it often enough. Maybe now that retirement has come along things will be different. I can only hope. Kim and I have had such a great visit. We have been cooking and sewing and sightseeing and just enjoying each other's company. It has been great that she and Robert have graciously put up with us for this long.

My crazy husband is making me laugh, I think I'm getting punchy. Time for bed, good night all!
